Dougie Imrie Earns Praise After Rescuing Point For Hamilton

Hamilton player-manager Martin Canning singled out Dougie Imrie for praise after the midfielder rescued a 1-1 draw against Partick Thistle.

It was the second week in a row Imrie had bagged the goal which earned a share of the points following his leveller against Dundee.

This time he cancelled out Mathias Pogba's opener to claim a draw after his side were reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Lucas Tagliapietra.

Canning said: On the GPS he runs the most every week, and it's great when guys like that get their rewards and get the headlines because they deserve it.

His attitude around the club is second to none, but although he gets the goal today it's hard to single anybody out. Every one of them was different class.

It's the second week in a row that we've gone a man down and a goal down and managed to come back, so from a manager's point of view it's very pleasing.

The work rate and endeavour in the second half was really good. We always pride ourselves on getting the ball down and passing it, and that's two weeks in a row we've managed to do that with 10 men which is pleasing.

We got the goal and managed to get a valuable point in the end.''

Tagliapietra was sent off for a last-man challenge on Pogba on the stroke of half-time.

Asked for his thoughts on the red card, Canning said: I thought it was harsh, but I'd like to see it back because you can sometimes be a bit biased.

Once I see it again I'll make my mind up, but my initial thought was that it was a harsh decision.''

Partick had been hoping to add to back-to-back wins with another victory.

Boss Alan Archibald said: It felt like two points dropped.

When you go a goal in front and the opposition are down to 10 men, you should see the game out.

It was a poor reaction from us after we scored. It is a sore one to take.''
