Canning sure wins will come
Hamilton player-manager Martin Canning is confident he is closing in on his first win as boss.
Hamilton player-manager Martin Canning is confident he is closing in on his first win as boss.
Canning goes into his ninth game in charge when Accies visit Scottish Premiership strugglers St Mirren on Saturday.
The defender lost top goalscorers Tony Andreu and Mickael Antoine-Curier soon after replacing Alex Neil and then lost Dougie Imrie to a two-match ban before seeing new signing Nigel Hasselbaink's debut held up by red tape.
But both played against Celtic last weekend and Canning believes he now has the squad to move on from the recent disruption.
Canning said: "We lost three good players, a lot of people forget Alex was a top player for us as well. And with Mickael and Tony going we lost a lot of goals.
"We have lost three influential players but we have Dougie back, we have got Nigel in with a game under his belt.
"We believe that if we apply ourselves properly we are still capable of winning games.''
