A nine-year-old girl has died after a crash on a motorway in which a man and a woman were also killed.

A nine-year-old girl has died after a crash on a motorway in which a man and a woman were also killed.

The 37-year-old woman and 42-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene following the collision between a van and a car on the M9 between Polmont and Linlithgow in West Lothian at around 9pm on Friday.

A further two people remain in a critical condition in Forth Valley Royal

Hospital and another who was transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow is described as serious.

The collision on the southbound carriageway involved a silver Mercedes car and a white Vauxhall van, Police Scotland said.

The force has asked any witnesses to contact officers.
