An investigation is underway after a five year old boy from Dunfermline was left behind at Blair Drummond Safari Park during a school trip.

Hundreds of youngsters from Pitcorthie Primary School and nursery were visiting the attraction on Monday.

Fife Council say they are treating the incident 'extremely seriously' and are trying to work out how the child came to be left at the attraction.

The local authority says, as soon as it was realised the child was missing, they contacted police and he was quickly found in the children's play area.

There are reports no-one noticed until the buses got back to Dunfermline but this has not been confirmed.
