Woman subjected to early morning sexual assault in Dunfermline

Police have launched an investigation in Fife after a woman was sexually assaulted in an early morning attack.

It happened in Dunfermline near the junction of the town's Nethertown Broad Street and Moodie Street early on Sunday morning

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in Fife are investigating a serious sexual assault which happened during the early hours on Sunday August 6 in the Nethertown Broad Street/Moodie Street area of Dunfermline. Officers are providing specialist support to the female victim.''

Officers say inquiries are at an early stage.
