Woman struck by taxi on Edinburgh's Princes Street
The accident happened opposite the Waverley Steps.
A woman has been taken to hospital after being knocked down by a taxi in the centre of Edinburgh.
The incident happened at about 12.20pm on Thursday on Princes Street, opposite the Waverley Steps beside the Balmoral Hotel.
Police and fire crews were in attendance, where it is understood the female pedestrian was trapped underneath the vehicle.
She has now been taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary. Her condition is not known.
A section of Princes Street was closed following the collision.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: Police in Edinburgh responded to the east end of Princes Street at around 12.20pm on Thursday January 5 following a collision involving a taxi and a female pedestrian.
Emergency services are currently tending to the woman and local road closures are in place.
Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding this incident are ongoing.''
