Woman killed and two young children injured in collision on M90

A woman has died in a car accident on the M90 that also injured three others including two young children.

The two-vehicle crash happened on the southbound carriageway near Rosyth, Fife, at around 8pm on Saturday.

Police Scotland confirmed the female driver of a Citroen C4 car was killed in the accident.

The female driver of the other vehicle, a Land Rover Discovery, was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy where she is in a stable condition.

Of the two young children who were in the car, one was taken to hospital and discharged.

The other child was taken to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh with injuries that are not believed to be life threatening.

One line of enquiry is that one of the cars was travelling in the wrong direction.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on the 101 number.
