A dog is fighting for its life and a woman's been hospitalised after a dog attack allegedly involving an 'American Bully' in Grangemouth.

The huge dog is said to have 'followed' the pair out of Zetland Park to Wallace Street before pouncing.

Posting on Facebook, Katie Craigen said her dog Lottie has spent the night at the vets fighting for her life after undergoing surgery.

"Mum and dad very shaken"

Her post added "My mum and dad are both doing well just very shaken up by the situation despite getting bitten and bruised as it dragged them both down to the ground for protecting Lottie.

"I would like to thank all the kind people who helped my parents in Wallace Street and running them both home, helping to call an ambulance and the vets.

To all the staff who helped them at Forth Valley Hospital, the lovely police officers, and my family and friends who helped them all out, it is so much appreciated.

"It's been truly a night from hell but we are just hoping and wishing for the best for our little furbaby."

A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident on Saturday.

Police have not confirmed the breed of the dog.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a woman and a dog injured by another dog in the Abbots Road area of Grangemouth on Saturday, 6 July, 2024.

“The woman attended hospital and the dog was taken for veterinary treatment.

“A 39-year-old man was charged in connection and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

“The dog warden has been notified.”
