Woman Fights Off Mugger On Footpath In Livingston

A 28-year-old woman fought off a mugger who pounced as she pushed a pram along a footpath in Livingston on Tuesday evening. She was attacked between Lenzie Avenue and Carmondean Centre at around 6pm. The man grabbed her by the neck and tried to steal her handbag but his victim managed to fight back and he was last seen running off into nearby woods. The suspect is described as white, approx 5ft 6in to 5ft 10in tall and with facial hair. He was wearing a blue baseball cap, dark knitted jumper with hood up, dark jeans , gloves and dark blue Adidas trainers with white stripes. Detective Constable Stevie McCormick said: "This was a frightening attack on a young woman which has left her badly shaken. "We are now appealing for witnesses who may have seen the suspect, or who recognise the description to come forward."
