A woman has died after being hit by a bin truck in Alloa town centre this afternoon.

A woman has died after being hit by a bin truck in Alloa town centre this afternoon.

Emergency services were called just after 3pm and the 52 year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family are aware and the High Street has been closed off to traffic while investigations are carried out.

A Police Scotland Spokesperson said: "We were called to High Street in Alloa around 3pm following a report of a crash involving a bin lorry and a pedestrian.

"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a 52-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family have been notified.

"The road remains closed whilst officers carry out an investigation. Local diversions are in place and we would ask people to avoid the area."
