Woman dies in collision with car on A1
A woman has died in an early morning collision with a car on the A1 between Thurston Manorand Torness.
The accident happened at around 5.45am this morning (Weds).
The woman was struck by a silver Volkswagen Golf and pronounced dead at the scene,
Police have put a long diversion route in place (corr, 10am) while they investigate exactly what happened.
Sergeant Scott Sneddon said: "First of all, our thoughts go out to this woman's family.
"We're appealing for anyone who saw a woman in dark clothing walking on the carriageway around the time of the incident to get in touch with us."
