Woman dies after Alloa fire

Emergency services were called to Primrose Street at 5am on Sunday

A woman has died after a fire broke out at a property in Alloa early on Sunday morning.

She was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Police say her death is being treated as “unexplained” and that her family have been informed.

Emergency services were called to Primrose Street in the town around 5am on February 2, with the street and Primrose Place remaining closed.

The public are asked to avoid the area

A small number of local residents who were evacuated are being supported by officers and partners.

Detective Inspector Graeme Connolly said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased at this time.

“We are continuing to coordinate with partners in response to the fire and a joint investigation with SFRS to establish the full circumstances will be carried out in due course.”

The public are asked to avoid the area at this time.
