Police in West Lothian are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision on the A89, Dechmont Roundabout to Station Road, in Livingston.

The collision occurred around 9.45am today when a grey Citroen Berlingo travelling eastbound collided with a white Ford Transit van travelling westbound.

The Scottish Fire & Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service also attended and the 49-year-old female driver of the Citroen was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The driver of the Ford was uninjured and a baby boy, who was a passenger in the Citroen, has been taken to the Sick Kid’s Hospital as a precaution.

Traffic is currently diverted through Dechmont Village to allow emergency services to carry out the necessary investigations at the scene.

Sgt Vinnie Fisher of the Road Policing Unit said: “We’re appealing for any witnesses who have not yet come forward to contact us. We are especially eager to speak to the driver of a white minibus that had red writing on the sides, and was travelling behind the Ford Transit Van at the time of the collision.”

Those with information are asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
