Woman Attacked While Begging
Police are searching for a man who attacked and injured a woman who was begging in Edinburgh city centre. The 25-year-old was assaulted as she begged at the Wellington statue at the east end of Princes Street. Her right cheek was cut in the incident, which occurred at about 6pm yesterday. The suspect, who is described as white, slim and was wearing a blacked hooded jumper, approached from the direction of the St James centre and made off along West Register Street. Police Scotland Detective Constable Andy Cory said: This appears to have been a random and unprovoked attack, which left the victim with a painful injury to her face."
