Woman appears in court charged with murder of Fife pensioner Mary Logie

A neighbour of murdered 82-year-old Mary Logie has appeared in court charged over her death.

Police investigating her death, at her home in Green Gates, Methil, arrested a woman on Wednesday night.

Today Sandra Weir, 40, of Green Gates, Methil, appeared on petition at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

She made no plea or declaration to the single charge of murder during the brief hearing, held in private.

Solicitor David Fitzpatrick made no motion for bail on her behalf.

Sheriff Grant McCulloch continued the case for further examination remanded Weir in custody ahead of a further hearing next week.

Mary's body was discovered in her home in the Fife town around 8pm on Tuesday January 5.

She had last been seen that morning when she said she was planning to visit shops and a friend in hospital.

A neighbour then discovered her body after concerns were raised when she failed to answer her phone.

Mary had lived in her flat in Green Gates for 45 years. Her husband Walter died in 1987, at the age of 56.
