A man, 29, has been arrested after a 21-year-old woman was stabbed in Stirling city centre on Saturday night.

She was taken to Forth Valley Hospital following the attack on King Street at around 8.20pm.

Her injury is described as non-life threatening.

The 29-year-old is currently in police custody. He is described as a white man and local to the Stirling area.

This is being treated as an isolated incident and there is no wider risk to the public.

Police Scotland have said their enquiries are ongoing.

The force also said in their original appeal that they were aware of speculation and false information doing the round on social media regarding the incident.

People were urged not add to the speculation while officers investigated to establish the full circumstances.
