Police in Spain have told the family of tragic Livingston woman Kirsty Maxwell that they haven't identified any witnesses to her death.

The 27-year-old was killed when she fell from a balcony in Benidorm while on a friend's hen party last April.

Spanish authorities initially investigated her death as a homicide and five men were questioned. They all denied any wrongdoing.

Now, detectives have told a judge they have not traced anyone who was at the Hotel Presidente, where Kirsty fell to her death.

David Swindle, an independent reviewer that works with the family, said: "I think it's quite shocking. Since July 2017, Kirsty's family and I have been speaking publicly and submitting reports to Spain about opportunities in this Hotel Presidente.

"It's sad to receive a bland unspecific update about inquiries.

"Sadly, there may have been some irretrievable errors made in this investigation, but Kirsty's family keep saying that they won't go away. They will keep pushing and pushing because they deserve the truth for Kirsty."
