Most of Scotland is being warned to prepare for yet another day of storm disruption with the Met Office issuing a yellow weather warning for snow and wind.

Much of the country has been battered by three storms in quick succession in the past week.

Although this spell of wintery weather hasn't been given a name, it is likely to cause disruption for travellers.

The yellow alert begins at 13.00 today (Wednesday) and is in force until 15.00 on Thursday with forecasters predicting frequent heavy snow showers, very gusty winds and a small chance of frequent lightning in places.

SEPA has issued three flood warnings in Tayside for Upper Tay, Innerpreffary to Bridge of Earn and Ballinluig to Logierait.

Scotrail is warning trains will be delayed due to speed restrictions being imposed on services in the Highlands.

Calmac has cancelled a number of sailings to the Isle of Arran on the main route from Ardrossan, which will be reviewed this afternoon.

A number of other routes to islands in the Hebrides have been cancelled as well.
