A Polish woman in Grangemouth says she is beside herself with worry after her 19-year-old niece in Ukraine called her because she thought she was going to die.

Paulina Piotrowska took the call from Ola last Thursday as the explosion hit an airport just 2km from her house.

She told Forth 1: "She was just shouting and screaming.

"She wanted to be taken to Poland and telling me she didn't want to die."

Paulina claims she feels completely helpless watching events unfold from afar and is desperate to get her family to safety.

She added: "Innocent people on the streets are being killed including children.

"This is not Russia vs Ukraine, it's Putin's war.

"We know Russian people don't want this."
