Police in Edinburgh say they are growing increasingly concerned for a Finnish tourist who disappeared a week ago, after failing to board a flight at Edinburgh Airport.

38-year-old Riina Elizabeth Sjögren was visiting the capital when she travelled to Edinburgh Airport on January 9 and purchased a ticket to Amsterdam for the same day.

However, she left her rucksack, passport, and winter coat in the departure lounge and boarded a tram to York Place instead of getting on the flight.

CCTV images picked her up at the tram stop at 10:20pm on January 9. That is the last sighting of her.

Through their investigations officers have established that Riina visited Edinburgh Castle the previous night.

Riina is described as white, 5ft 3ins tall, of medium build with long dark brown hair and wears glasses.

When last seen she was wearing dark trousers, and a blue cardigan with a red or pink top underneath and a black and white scarf.

Chief Inspector Stevie Sutherland says he is concerned for her welfare.
