The Mum of Edinburgh junior footballer Shaun Woodburn has Forth News told a four year sentence for his killer is "an insult".
The 30-year-old died after being attacked by a 17-year-old outside a Leith pub during New Year celebrations.
Earlier this week the boy responsible - who cannot be named because of his age - was jailed for four years, with a supervision order of 18 months after his release.
He had originally faced a murder charge but was convicted of the lesser offence of culpable homicide.
The teenager had committed several other assaults during the night along with his friend Mohammed Zakariyah, targeting innocent members of the public at random.
A petition was launched calling for a tougher sentence and it has now gained over 40,000 signatures.
Shaun's Mum Denise Syme spoke to Forth News about her heartbreak.
