The Mum of a Hearts fan attacked after the team's match with Motherwell on Friday has spoken to Forth News about the terrifying attack.

Nicky Manson and her 22-year-old son Darren attended the game in the North Lanarkshire town on Friday and were heading to get a train home when they were approached by a group of teenagers.

They were verbally bused before Darren was assaulted and was left injured on the ground. He later required surgery for a shattered jaw and has had metal plates and pins inserted in to his mouth.

He's now recording but doctors say it will be six weeks before he can eat solid foods.

Police are investigating but nobody has been arrested in connection.

Nicky now wants to thank good samaritans who have raised over £2,000 for Darren after his attack, with people sending well wishes from all over.
