A memorial event's taken place in Edinburgh for the murderer MP Jo Cox.

It was held on Portobello Beach this afternoon (22nd June) to mark what would have been her 42nd birthday.

Her friend Kim Wallace - who worked with her at Oxfam - organised it.

A series of similar events have been taking place around the globe - including one involving the Labour politician's family in London.

A boat covered in roses was pulled along by a barge carrying her husband Brendan and two young children.

Jo Cox was killed almost a week ago outside her constituency surgery in West Yorkshire.

A 52 year old man, Thomas Mair, has been charged in connection with her death.
