A city deal - an agreement between the UK Treasury and a region in order to boost investment - and in this case could provide £1bn for the area.
During the UK Government's Budget this afternoon, George Osbourne announced that negotiations have begun.
The UK and Scottish governments would both contribute to the package - and it's thought it could be finalised within the next few months.
Glasgow was given a city deal in 2014, and a deal was signed for Aberdeen in January, in order to help the city through the current oil downturn.
We spoke to the Leader of Edinburgh City Council, Andrew Burns, about his thoughts on the deal.
