Some residents were evacuated from their homes in Edinburgh's Liberton area when a major water main burst during the early hours of this morning.
The fire service was called out to deal with flooding on Orchardhead Loan while engineers from Scottish Water worked to isolate the problem.
The water level was dropping by around 7am but the 22 inch main feeds a large section of the Capital.
Scottish Water says homes and businesses across much of the south of the city may experience low water pressure or the loss of normal supplies.
Areas affected include the city centre, the Old Town, Canongate, Liberton, Prestonfield, and The Inch.
