WATCH: B&B owner describes moment passers-by tried to save homeless man as he lay dying on Edinburgh street
A B&B owner has decribed the moment locals tried to save a homeless man who died on an Edinburgh street in freezing temperatures yesterday morning.
The man was sleeping rough with a friend on East London Street when he fell ill. His friend cried for help after being unable to wake him.
Norman Ramsay, who owns Ramsay's B&B, was making breakfast when he heard screams and ran outside.
He told Forth News: "The next thing, the neighbour is on the phone to the NHS and he's giving him CPR. I ran out but I think that was the man gone. I couldn't believe it, I've never seen anything like that before.
"A gentleman runs across the road, obviously a doctor, and he starts giving him CPR as well, but it wasn't working. His wife came running across in pajamas and everything on, and she starts doing the same thing but it was obviously too late."
