Andy Murray's grandfather has said he's worried about the impact the former Wimbledon champion's hip injury could have on his tennis future.

Roy Erskine's been sharing his concern with us after Andy announces he's being forced to withdraw from the first major tournament of 2018 - the Australian Open.

He told our reporter Hazel Martin that only time will tell how serious the injury is.

Andy's also released a statement confirming he may be forced to undergo surgery: "Sadly I won't be playing in Melbourne this year, as I am not yet ready to compete

"I'll be flying home shortly to assess all the options but I appreciate all the messages of support and I hope to be back playing soon."

He also said on Instagram that surgery was a "secondary option" but he's hoping to avoid it.

The 30-year-old - a former world number one - will fall to 18th in the tennis rankings next week.
