WATCH: 250 NHS Lothian operations cancelled during 'Beast from the East'

Bosses at NHS Lothian say around 250 operations were forced to be cancelled due to adverse weather last week.

The region was battered by heavy snow, strong winds, and freezing temperatures as the so-called 'Beast From The East' struck.

That led to the health board cancelling all non-essential procedures and and appointments - with only cancer and urgent surgeries taking place.

That led to roughly 250 operations and 5,000 appointments being missed and bosses at NHS Lothian say it will now take three or four days to work through the backlog.
