Livingston factory placed in administration with loss of 107 jobs

A union leader is slamming the treatment of more than 100 workers losing their jobs at a factory in Livingston.
API Foils has been placed in administration with bosses blaming the loss of major customers.
But Mary Alexander from Unite says staff only heard the news when the firm's US owners informed the New York Stock Exchange.
She told Forth News: "The announcement from the holding company said that API companies in the UK were going into administration.
"That was the first our members had heard of it. It's an appalling way to communicate that you've lost your job, you've lost your livelihood.
"The Livingston company has been going since the 1970s. Many of our members have worked there for 20 or 30 years, so it's a huge blow for them to find out on the internet from a press release.
"Naturally our members were very frustrated, particularly as they've been very busy and the books were full.
"There are 107 workers affected. They're very upset about the way they've been treated.
"This is a viable business proposition. We're asking the Scottish Government to help find an alternative buyer for the company, because we believe it is a healthy business that can still continue in Livingston."
