The six year old was found dead on Monday 2 July 2018 on the island after disappearing three hours earlier.

Locals are gathering on Sunday 8 July to hear from the Father Michael Hutson from the St Andrew's Parish in Rothesay and two local girls will sing at the vigil.

Organisers are welcoming everyone to get involved and are asking people not on the island to light a candle and share a picture of it on Twitter with the hashtag #lightforalesha

Carol Ashley Dickson said: 'We are a tight-knit community and this is a nice way for us to show the family their respects.

'I think it is a good idea for the community to come together with our condolences.

'I've spoke to Father Michael here on the Island and he is willing to say a few words.

'Two locals girls are also going to sing, I think they are going to sing Amazing Grace.

'The family has everybody's sympathy and they have been so brave through this, so this is just a nice gesture from the community.'

A 16 year old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has appeared in court charged with the rape and murder of Alesha Macphail.
