Young vandals target East Lothian school
Police in East Lothian are making enquiries after a group of teenagers caused havoc at a local school
Police in East Lothian are making local enquiries and checking CCTV in Haddington after a vandalism incident.
The incidents took place at Haddington Infant School and nearby Mill Wynd, between 4.30pm and 6pm on Monday, 14 February.
A group of between four and six youths were seen rooting through the school’s bin store before shortly afterwards throwing items at the window of a nearby home. Around 5.30pm, the same group entered the fire door of the school’s kitchen and activated the fire alarm before running from the area.
The youths are described as being aged between 14-16, with slim builds and wearing hooded tops.
Sergeant Rhona Meikle said: “We will be carrying out enquiries in the local area and viewing CCTV footage to try and identify the youths involved.
“We are asking for anyone in the community with information to please come forward. At the same time, we are appealing to local parents to engage with your children and ensure they don’t get drawn into these kinds of antisocial and disruptive activities.
“Anyone with information which could assist our enquiries should call police on 101, quoting incident 2531 of 14 February.”
