US Airforce plane lands at Prestwick after declaring emergency

A Us Airforce plane landed at Prestwick Airport this morning after declaring an emergency over Scotland.

The Boeing KC-135, an aircraft which is used to refuel other planes while they're flying, got into difficulty around 8am on Wednesday.

According to a flight tracking app, the four-engine aircraft experienced technical difficulties at 26,202 feet near the Isles of Jura and Mull.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Prestwick Airport said: "We can confirm that an aircraft diverted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport today, due to technical issues.

"The aircraft landed safely with no further issues."
