An Edinburgh charity has been hit with a delay in their efforts to bring 52 Ukrainian orphans to the UK.

Dnipro Kids, originally started by a group of Hibernian supporters after visiting the city for a football match, are facing issues with paperwork.

The charity evacuated the children from Ukraine, taking them to safety in Poland.

But they say they are best placed to look after the children here in Scotland.

The plan had been to fly them over today, for a day of sightseeing in London tomorrow, before travelling North later in the week.

But MP and SNP Westminster Leader Ian Blackford, who was set to join them on the flight, says that isn't quite going to plan.

He tweeted:

"Although agreement on providing sanctuary in Scotland has been agreed and announced by the UK Govt last Thursday not all the paper work has been signed off on.

"The welfare of the children must come first. I will work with all to make sure this is brought to a safe conclusion."
