80-year-old man and 64-year-old woman die in A71 crash

A man and a woman have both died after a head on collision on the A71 near East Calder yesterday

Police are investigating a head of crash on the A71 yesterday (August 3rd) near East Calder which killed a 80-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman.

Emergency services were called around 1pm after the collision between a black Audi A6 and a black Mercedes GLC.

The occupants of the Mercedes car, a 29-year-old female driver and four children aged 3, 9, 10 and 14, were taken to hospital

The road was closed for a number of hours after the incident.

Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick said: “I am appealing for motorists who were on this road around the time of the incident to contact us with any information they may have.

"Two people have lost their lives and five people were injured in this collision and their families will want to know the full circumstances of what has happened.

"If anyone has any dash cam footage, I would ask that it is handed to police as it could assist our ongoing inquiries.”
