There are tributes for a student from Prestwick who has died after falling from a third floor window of a block of flats in Edinburgh.
Emergency services were called to the Warrender Park Road area around 3.20am on Sunday 8th September 2019. Paramedics were unable to save Patrick Smith and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 21 year-old was studying Chemical Engineering at Edinburgh University.
He was also part of the swimming team. Head of Swimming, Chris Jones, says, "We're all deeply shocked and devastated. He was such an infectious character around the team.
"We're just trying to offer as much support as we can to all the athletes and swimmers in the team who were close friends with Patrick.
"It's normally quite a positive time of the year with everyone starting university.
"But when this news broke, it has obviously hit us all very hard. It's a really upsetting and shocking time."
Police are treating his death as unexplained but not suspicious.
