Triathlon Runner Dies After Collision With Cyclist While Training In Livingston
A triathlon runner who was hit by a cyclist while out training in Livingston has died in hospital.
Peter Craig, 49, was struck when he was running on Saturday morning.
He suffered a head injury in the collision which happened on the Loan footpath at its junction with Fergus Avenue at about 9am.
Mr Craig was taken to St John's Hospital in the town and then the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, where he died yesterday afternoon.
A statement from the West Lothian Triathlon club said: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Craig.
"Peter was involved in a collision on Saturday while out training for Aberfeldy and suffered brain injuries.
"Peter had been a member of the club for two years and his enthusiasm for the club and for triathlon was infectious.
"He had recently become a committee member and had also taken the lead on the Wednesday-night run sessions. He will be sadly missed.
"Our thoughts are with Mhairi and his family at this time.''
Sergeant Gary Taylor, of Police Scotland, said: "This was a tragic accident and our thoughts go to Peter's family at this very sad time.''
