Scots are being warned to brace themselves for three days of stormy weather.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for heavy showers and thunderstorms between midday and midnight on Tuesday.

Up to 60mm of rain is forecast to fall in as little as three hours, with the prospect of some localised flooding possible.

The Met Office goes on to warn: "Lightning and hail will pose additional hazards."

The area forecast to be affected on Tuesday.

It adds: "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures. Some communities might become cut off if roads flood.

"Power cuts might occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."

A further weather warning for more persistent rain - and the risk of more flooding - has also been issued for Wednesday - with up to 120mm of rain expected in some areas.

And a third, covering an area north of the Central Belt, is set to follow on Thursday.
