Three women aged 31, 34 and 42 have been arrested under the Terrorism Act after a van was driven into the security fence at Leonardo, a defence firm in Edinburgh.

The incident took place during a disturbance on Crewe Road North in the early hours of Tuesday.

Police Scotland’s Counter Terrorism Unit is leading the investigation, which remains ongoing.

Officers say they are treating the incident as targeted and do not believe there is any wider threat to the public.

They’re appealing for anyone who was in the area - including the nearby supermarket car park - or has relevant dashcam footage to come forward.

Information can be passed to police via 101, quoting incident number 0416 of 15 July.
