Three teenagers charged in connection with cone thrown at Ocean Terminal
Three 13-year-old girls have been charged after a young boy was struck by a plastic cone thrown from the second floor of a shopping centre.
The seven-year-old was hit in the leg by the cone as he was about to climb stairs on the ground floor of Ocean Terminal in Leith, on Boxing Day last year. He was not seriously injured but police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV from the centre to trace those responsible.
The cone was dropped from outside Pure Gym and landed near Debenhams on the ground floor, police said.
Three 13-year-old girls have now been charged with culpable and reckless conduct and referred to the Children's Reporter.
Constable Nicole Napier said: This was a senseless act that had to potential to seriously injure or worse.
We have now charged three teenagers in connection with this matter and I wish to thank everyone who assisted throughout the course of our investigation.''
