Three workers have been suspended from a care home in Edinburgh after allegations of abuse.

The suspensions at Colinton Care Home came after a fellow member of staff alerted managers they were worried about colleague's conduct.

Four Seasons Health Care - who run the premises - said they were cooperating with a police investigation.

They stressed they've a whistle-blowing policy encouraging anyone to raise concerns if they have them.

The facility in Edinburgh houses 53 elderly people and bosses say resident's welfare is of paramount importance.

Charlotte Nicholds, their spokeswoman said:

"When one of our care staff raised concerns about the conduct of colleagues the Home Manager notified all the relevant authorities and we have been cooperating actively with a police investigation. Three members of staff have been suspended pending its outcome. We have informed relatives of people living in the home." The wellbeing of the people in our care is our priority and we have an active whistle-blowing policy that encourages our residents, relatives and staff to raise any concerns they may have about any aspect of care and these are always followed up and referred to relevant authorities as appropriate so that they may be investigated in a thorough and transparent way. We are grateful to our carer for their vigilance in raising concerns that have led to the investigation." It is not appropriate to comment further ahead of the conclusion of the investigation and any subsequent legal process."
