Three in hospital after two-vehicle crash involving police car on A1

A 51-year-old woman is being treated in hospital for serious injuries

Three people, including a teenager, had to be taken to hospital after two-vehicle crash on the A1 in East Lothian last night.

The incident, involving a marked police car, with blue lights and siren activated, and a blue Ford Ka, took place at around 11:30pm near the Linkshead junction.

A 51-year-old woman, a passenger in the Ford Ka, was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.

The 19-year-old female driver of the car and a 60-year-old man, also a passenger in the car, were treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The two male police officers were checked over by paramedics at the scene.

Sergeant Ross Drummond said:

"We are working to establish the circumstances which led to this crash and would urge anyone who may have seen the incident or who has any other information to come forward.

"We would be keen to speak to other road users who were in the area at the time, particularly if they have dashcam footage.

"Anyone with information can call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4290 of 24 September."
