Three Edinburgh schools have re-opened this morning after structural faults closed them in early April.

Oxgangs Primary, St Peters R C Primary and Braidburn School were all shut down after issues were discovered in the wall ties and roof head restraints.

However letters released by the Edinburgh Schools Partnership to Edinburgh Council state that the issues have been "suitably rectified". It also says that external visual inspections have found no futher faults.

The three schools were just three of seventeen schools closed in early April after safety fears were raised.

Thousands of pupils are currently being taught in alternative arrangements as their schools are repaired, with some not expected to be allowed back to their home schools until after the summer holidays.

An independent inquiry into what went wrong with the schools is to be launched at the end of the summer, once all pupils are back to school.
