A teenage boy has been taken to hospital after he was seriously assaulted in Bathgate.

The 16-year-old was attacked on George Street between 1.15am and 1.30am this morning.

Police are checking cctv to find identify four men who are believed to have been involved.

Officers from Police Scotland are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to try to establish what happened between about 1.15am and 1.30am.

They are also keen to identify four men dressed in dark clothing who are believed to have been involved.

Officers hope pub goers in the area may be able to help.

Detective Constable Alan Gibson, from Livingston CID, said: ''Whilst we don't have descriptions of the suspects, the assault took place near a bar on the opposite side of the road, so it is likely that patrons have either seen the incident itself or these men running from the area.''
