Teenager charged with Princes Street assault

A 14-year-old's been referred to the children's reporter

A 14-year-old boys been charged over an assault in the centre of Edinburgh.

The incident, which happened at around 10.35pm on Monday July 23, left a 37-year-old man needing hospital treatment for an injury to his face.

It happened opposite the Marks and Spencer on Princes Street.

Detective Constable John Dunn from Gayfield CID said: "This attack left a man with a number of facial injuries and requiring stitches.

"We've been conducting a robust investigation since and have received a significant response from the public, which we're very grateful for.

"A 14-year-old will now be reported to the Children's Reporter and, following our enquiries, we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this."
