Teenage girls followed by man in separate incidents in Livingston

Extra police are being deployed in Livingston over concern a man's been following teenage girls.

Officers are looking into two incidents around Dechmont Woods on Monday night.

He followed one youngster until she ran away and later grabbed hold of another's wrist.

They weren't hurt but police say they've been left extremely distressed

Inquiries are ongoing to identify the suspect and anyone who can assist officers is asked to come forward.

He is described as white, in his thirties, 5ft 9ins tall with a slim build and wearing a dark grey hooded top with the hood up, grey bottoms and black shoes.

Detective Sergeant Dennis Langton from Livingston CID said: "Fortunately both victims were uninjured, however extremely distressed by the behaviour and actions of the suspect.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who was in or around Ogilvie Way or the footpaths near to Munro Way and the railway line on Monday evening.

"In particular, we would like to trace the man who was walking his black Labrador dog and who came to the young girl's aid, as he may have more information that can help us trace the male responsible.

“In the meantime, additional high visibility patrols will be undertaken by officers in and around the local area.”
