Team Scotland selects cyclists for Commonwealth Games
A squad of 20 will go for glory this Summer
Paralympic gold medal sprinter Libby Clegg has been selected for Scotland's Commonwealth Games cycling squad after switching sports.
The 32-year-old is among a 20-strong squad which has been announced for the Birmingham event.
Clegg won double gold in the 100 and 200-metre events at Rio 2016 and retired from athletics after the Tokyo Games last year.
The visually-impaired athlete, who gave birth to son Edward in 2019, announced her retirement from running after the Tokyo Games before starting a new adventure in cycling.
Paralympic champions Neil Fachie and Aileen McGlynn are also in the squad.
Olympic champion Katie Archibald is joined by her brother, John, in the squad. The pair both won Commonwealth medals on the same day four years ago.
Olympic medallists Neah Evans and Jack Carlin will also be looking to add to their Commonwealth haul.
Mark Stewart will take part in the men's road race having won the points race at the Gold Coast Games in 2018.
Those making their Commonwealth debuts include Finn Crockett, 21-year-old Olympian Anna Shackley, and former world junior champion Charlie Aldridge.
Scottish Cycling performance director David Somerville said: "Our 2018 team set the bar very high, winning 10 medals, four of which were gold, but I have every confidence in the calibre and character of the team we have been able to pick this time around.
"From household names to Commonwealth Games debutants, we have an amazing mix of youth and experience, who are all equally hungry to leave their mark in Birmingham."
