Teachers at Kaimes school return to work after dispute over 'unruly pupils'
Teachers at Edinburgh's Kaimes school have returned to work after a dispute over 'unruly pupils'.
Eleven staff members were sent home without pay after refusing to teach a number of pupils they claimed were voilent.
Three weeks on from the disagreement NASUWT union and council leaders have reached a solution.
The Kaimes School is based in Liberton and is a school for children with additional support needs.
A spokesperson for the NASUWT union said: "A range of actions have been agreed which will enhance both working conditions for teachers and the learning environment for pupils.
"The wellbeing of staff and pupils has been at the heart of the discussions and both parties have agreed that a zero tolerance approach to any incident involving violence against staff is paramount to ensure the safety and protection of staff at all times.
In the light of the good progress made, the NASUWT members have now returned to work."
