Explosive unit called to "suspicious item" found in Edinburgh Mosque
Police say an explosive disposal unit has been called to an Edinburgh Mosque after the discovery of a "suspicious item".

UPDATE:
An earlier cordon around an Edinburgh Mosque has now been cleared, after Police and an explosive unit dealt with a "suspicious item".
It was eventually deemed that the item was innocent in nature and posed no risk to the public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Tuesday, 3 January, police were called to a report of a suspicious item found within a Mosque on Potterrow, Edinburgh.
“A cordon was put in place as a precaution. The EOD attended and carried out a controlled explosion, however it has been established that the item posed no risk to the public and was innocent in nature.
“The cordon has now been lifted.
“Police would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding as officers attended the scene.”

Police are on the scene, alongside a bomb disposal unit, at an Edinburgh Mosque after the discovery of a "suspicious item".
Officers were called around half past nine this morning, and have now cordoned off an area around both Potterrow and Nicholson Square.
An Explosive Ordnance Disposal Specialist unit has been called in to assist with the incident.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.30am on Tuesday, 3 January, police were called to a report of a suspicious item found within a Mosque on Potterrow, Edinburgh.
“A cordon has been put in place as a precaution and the EOD are in attendance.”
