Police say a suspicious package which last night saw the bomb squad called out and an Edinburgh street sealed off posed no risk to the public.

It was found at a bus stop on Newhaven Road between Ferry Road and Dudley Gardens at around 5.45pm.

A special robot was deployed to examine the item and the all clear was given at around 9pm.

Angus Bancroft filmed the incident from his flat and told Forth News, "I took a look out of my window and there was the bomb disposal men outside with a bunch of police officers and men in military uniform standing around it.

"I was a little bit shocked, not really scared but definitely on edge."

Police have thanked the public for their cooperation during the incident
