Storm Henry was horrid - but it could have been worse
Storm Henry brought severe gales to Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife overnight but the terrible weather is now moving away.
Despite the gales easing, it is expected to remain windy for most of the day.
Restrictions were placed on the Forth Road Bridge early this morning although the crossing remained open to cars.
But it was still a tricky commute on Tuesday morning with debris and localised flooding on the roads.
Pilmuir Street in Dunfermline was closed due to an unsafe building while a large tree was blown over on Willowbrae Road in Edinburgh blocking rush hour traffic.
Around 2,000 homes in the north of Scotland were without power.
Since the start of the storm on Monday afternoon Scottish Hydro said engineers have reconnected 9,000 properties which lost electricity.
The severe weather created difficulties for recovery teams attending to blown-over vehicles, routes blocked by trees and buildings made unsafe by the extreme winds.
Henry is the eighth winter storm and comes days after the UK saw off Storm Gertrude.
Gusts of 84mph forced the closure of the Forth Road Bridge on Monday.
